Why Aiken Vascular Specialists?

At Aiken Vascular, we will review your vascular conditions with you and your family in an in-depth manner. We will talk about all the options and go over your tests and images until you are satisfied with the decision-making.

This may involve surgery (either “open” or “minimally-invasive”), watchful waiting, or medical management. We will partner with your primary care physician, cardiologist, kidney doctor, podiatrist, or any other healthcare provider you designate to ensure your care is comprehensive.

Our goal is to meet and exceed your expectations in your vascular care and deliver that care in a compassionate, timely, and convenient manner.

Veins and Arteries

Veins

Veins return blood after the oxygen has been delivered to the body by the arteries.

Veins can leak fluid and pool in the legs, and this can cause discomfort, swelling and even open sores that will not heal.

Arteries

Arteries bring blood with oxygen from the heart to the rest of the body.

Calcium can build up in any of these arteries and can cause blockages.

Depending on your condition, we will develop a care plan that can help!

Aiken Vascular Specialists is part of the Limb Preservation Centers of America® network. This designation represents that patients with limb-threatening conditions due to peripheral arterial disease or other conditions can get the excellent care necessary to prevent major amputations. This is due to the level of skill that Dr. Perera and his staff possess in the areas of vascular diagnosis, revascularization, and treatment of diabetic foot wounds or infections.

The AVS office-based endovascular lab (OBL) is a procedure/operating room in the AVS suite where appropriate patients can have procedures to restore circulation, repair dialysis access fistulas, have diagnostic angiograms, all within the office and be discharged the same day. OBLs have been shown to be safe and effective, with high patient satisfaction scores. Patients cite things like easy parking, interacting with the same familiar staff and a pleasant, more personal environment that leads to good satisfaction scores.
